Meet Matt, our IT Graduate

Hub24 Careers

Matt talks about his journey as an IT Graduate, moving through the company and being awarded a scholarship with the Innovation team. His passion for learning has equipped him to engage with new experiences and make the most of his time with HUB24.

Tell me about your role at the HUB24 Group? What do you do?

I am an IT Graduate, which means that I’ve been lucky enough to do a bit of everything. My journey with HUB24 started in 2021 as an intern where most of my work was with the Innovation team. Since December, I have been a full-time graduate where my first rotation was with the Brisbane software development team, which works primarily on the HUBconnect side of things. My second rotation was working with the DevOps and App Support team out of Sydney where my focus was on the HUB24 Platform. Currently, I’m in the early stages of my final rotation, which involves working with the Data Services team in Brisbane, responsible for managing the backend and reporting aspects of HUBconnect.

What has surprised you the most about the working culture at HUB24?

The strong emphasis on collaboration and innovation. The level of support and mentorship provided to newcomers like myself has been outstanding. Every team I have been on has been filled with incredibly helpful people that have gone out of their way to teach me what they know. The company’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and development has also been impressive. Overall, the working culture here encourages growth, creativity, and a real sense of community.

What is your ‘superpower’ and how do you use this in everyday life?

I’d like to say that my superpower is my passion for learning. I believe that people enjoy being an expert in their field and that asking them to share this expertise not only enriches my own knowledge but also makes those sharing feel valued and respected.

If there was one piece of career advice you could give someone, what would that be?

Always be willing to try new things and embrace opportunities for learning, even if they aren’t directly relevant to your current role. The knowledge and skills you gain from these experiences can prove invaluable in unexpected ways.
